The last time I heard from one of the Tulane students, it seemed that there was a lot of help mobilized to get the house back up again. I hadn't checked in for a few months, but now am reading about the issue with the foundation and the historical landmarking.
I hope that the setback you have encountered in January regarding the foundation hasn't kept you from rebuilding at all. Please let me know what else is necessary to move things forward and I'll share this with my blog's readers— in the hopes that this will help generate more interest in donating resources.
Bless you and may you stay strong,
Bill

Progress on the building of the house
We have more angels from God who are responding to our needs. One, the Sherriff's Office has volunteered to completely clean off the land. Two, a cost of a permit has been waived. Three, a gentleman has agreed to donate all lumber needed for rebuilding. Our architect, Mr. C. has notified me that the plans are still progressing and everything is looking up. Thanks for your continued prayers and support.

Brother to Kellie
Thank you all especially our donors and our Tulane University Medical Students who are helping our family each day. A special thank you to Marion Greenup. Everyone should know that Marion has been a rock from the very beginning. She rallied her friends in New York immediately after the storm and never stopped. She continues to be a powerful force and inspiration to all of us. We love her and all of you and are making steps to have Kellie and the kids come home. We will continue to update you as we make progress. Thanks again and God Bless.

Miracle for Miracle and Family
Dear Joseph Family,
I was so saddened to hear your story from my good friend Jeffery Chambliss who is rebuilding his home in the Holy Cross neighborhood. And God bless the Tulane medical students who followed through and made sure they contacted you to help.
I am writing to let you know that each one of you is in my prayers every day. I believe you will be twice blest from here forward. I can't wait until you are able to move into your home. I would love to meet you all. Just remember I am sending your story out to friends all over the United States. I know your faith, courage and bravery, and determination will touch their hearts. Amy

Aunt to Kellie & Kids
I felt that you would be home for October, having your annual Halloween party. I've been waiting and longing for you to come home. I miss you so much.
This is just a minor setback Kellie. Our faith and trust in God will transcend this hurdle. We will rebuild and you and the kids will return home. I can't wait to see a smile on everyone's face again.
Forever Love,
Aunt Ronnie

Dear Joseph Family,
You are amazing survivors already as you came through Katrina with the will to rebuild your lives. Now, you face a new challenge - you're being asked to rebuild again - only this time you need much more help to succeed. While I cannot begin to know the feelings you're enduring during this traumatic time, I can tell you that I too am a survivor: earthquake, flood, and death. I know the pain of loss very well. Loss is, in a very twisted way...a gift. I think it forces us to recognize that which truly matters in life: the love and security only a family can provide. I would bet everything on the fact that your family has drawn immeasurably close because of your suffering. If not, do something about it right away because no wood, stone, or stucco can give you the safety of family. Yes, a family needs a home to have shelter from a storm, but your greatest shelter will be your arms wrapped around each other in both the bad times, and the good, which is sure to come now. I wish you much love and hope that the "world" gives you the money you need to rebuild once more.

You can do it!
We can ony imagine the hardship and trials your family is living and working through. I hope that this donation (sent via paper mail) can help in some way and let your family know that people around the country do care. Hopefully others will be able to send what they can. My thoughts are with you...

You Are Courageous People— Hang in There
To the Joseph Family,
I can't begin to know what it must be like to endure all you have survived already and then to see this happen.
I will spread the word about the fund and hope we can get your situation in front of enough people to make a difference. I know my small contribution is just a drop in the bucket, but hopefully, enough of us will do the same and make it possible for you to return to your home.
Be strong,
Bill

So sorry for your losses, but so grateful that your family is together still. That means so much. Am not in NOLA -- far from it in WV -- but my heart aches for all of you. Put up a note on the blog for which I write (thanks to the heads up from Scout Prime). Hopefully with our collective efforts, we can help get you back into your home a little sooner...

Could this family be helped by ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition?
My heart breaks for every member of this family to have suffered so many tragic losses. You will all be in my thoughts.
I am including a link below for the application to ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition because this situation seems like a perfect candidate.
I personally would like to thank everyone that has been with us every step of the way, during our storm, including my family and perfect strangers. I appreciate every token of love, whether monetary or just a prayer. I ask you to continue to pray for my family and a safe return home. Again, THANKS A MILLION.

#9 - David Baker - 10/11/2007 - 17:43
Please hang in there - there are a lot of people reading about your situation and surely there will be enough help to rebuild. For the kids, it must be especially hard because the amount of time that has passed and is still passing since you lost your house is such a large percentage of your childhood. But I'm sure it will work out if you give it a little more time.

Sister to Kelllie
I would first like to extend my appreciation to all those who have responded to this tragedy. Your efforts, prayers, donations, and words of encouragement are truly appreciated, it continues to provide hope and faith for our family. "THANK YOU"
Just to add clarity to the question presented regarding needs. The family is desperately in need of a home, or such supplies to assist in the building a home. Building material/supplies, service of construction workers, and the entire package of constructing a home from start to finish. Thanks again for your interest and may GOD continue to bless and keep you.

Response to question regarding needs.
Dear Missy,
Thank you for your comment. The family is covered as far as their basic necessities are concerned. Kellie's husband (Miracle's father; married after the death of her previous husband in a tragic accident) is a food service worker for Sodexho, and is able to provide for such needs. What the family truly needs is your help in bringing exposure to this tragedy in the hopes that the collective good will help them turn this situation around. Thank so much again for your concern, and have a blessed day.

What else can we do?
I don't have much money to donate now (thank you, Bush economy!), but if there is anything else you need - clothes, school supplies, etc. - please let us know.
I am a Tulane alum, and the national neglect of New Orleans breaks my heart. New Orleans' people are its heart and its treasure. Thanks for working so hard to make it your home again.

Brightest of blessings
to you, your family and friends through this continuing nightmare. I heartily applaud you for returning and rebuilding. Though not a resident (yet) I love New Orleans, and can't be there right now, but I am so excited for the families that are able to finally return and get their lives back. You shouldn't have to be going through this, you have our support and our cheers, may they soon outdistance the tears of sympathy for all of the losses sustained by the Nola residents.
May your home be re-rebuilt soon, and may the streetlights shine even sooner to prevent another mess, may you know the happiness of being in your home w/friends and family to celebrate at last.
Blessings,
